Terps Shatter Temple Myth–Perry, Stefon, Wes–Lead Maryland To 2-0 Start Defeating Owls 36-27

On all my shows this week, I kept up the mantra that we were not playing LSU, for pete’s sakes it was Temple. Where was the vaunted running attack. Matt Brown was held to 35 yards on 10 carries. Joe Vellano and AJ Francis were superb.

Ok so Stefon fumbled a punt but he had 135 yards on only 9 touches. Included was the game clinching 34 yard reception.

Wes Brown is a flat out stud gaining 52 yards on 7 carries. Two fumbles marred his effort but he is a Freshman.

Perry Hills was 11-21 for 2 TDs and rushed for 38 yards. Enough said.

Now please don’t tell me how bad Temple is—just because we won. The Philadelphia Inquirer absolutely made mincemeat of the Terps pre game–and now well is now.

Kudos to Coach lLocksley for really getting Perry Hills ready this week.

Coach Edsall expressed his satisfaction post game:

“Just very, very proud of this football team and the coaching staff for the effort we gave today. It was really a tale of two halves. The first half we went out and we capitalized on big plays and turnovers and then it was reversed in the second half where we turned the ball over and they made some big plays. To have our guys come on the road against a quality football team, which Temple is, and to fight through the adversity that we had to in the second half and to put that last drive together; it really showed me something about the heart, the soul and the character and the belief that these kids have in one another–and in themselves. So I’m just very, very thrilled and happy to come up here and get the win.

Next up for the Terps is UConn at Byrd next Saturday at 12:30

Great win, on the road, for a beleaguered team. I like what Edsall is doing and building. And yes you were the only positive prognosticator going in Bruce. But no surprise there.
You are lucky to not have to listen to the “impartial” tv crew. Total Big E apologists..
Still feel the lack of secondary speed and what appears at this point to be a not strong arm for Hills, forebodes trouble down the road.
But future is getting brighter. And agree that Edsall may not have survived the criticism if this game was lost.
