The Reemergence of Maryland Basketball as a National Power Begins

I can’t stress enough how big the commitment from Roddy Peters means to this program. Here was Maryland in an apparent dog eat dog battle with the Evil Empire (Kentucky) and coming in 2nd place. But the program was strong enough to land one of the top 5 point guards in the country and furthermore a DC Assault alum in 6″4 Roddy Peters. Who was the competition—Georgetown, Xavier, Kansas and UCLA. With Turgeon at the helm Georgetown must be prepared to battle for every Balto Washington star. No longer will the Hoyas have free reign. Dalonte Hill did an incredible job keeping Maryland in the lead for Peters despite all the hoopla over the Harrison. Remember the Twins would have been one and done guys but Peters will give the program PG leadership not just for one year. The stability of the program is enhanced with a guy like Peters who isn’t just using Maryland as a springboard. Yet if he is great and puts the Terps into rarified air the world will be at his fingertips. So be it!!! The depth on this squad for 13-14 is unparalleled for Maryland. Land the incredible St Joe star Phil Booth for 2014 and the sky is the limit. Viva Turgeon!!!!!
