Let me explain why I was so upset if you heard me on Gary stein’s Postgame show today. Today proved something to me that I felt all along. That Maryland was as good as almost everyone in the ACC. Forget the ridiculous 2nd guessing on the 4th and 1, forget that Brad Craddock is having trouble on short FGs abd PATs. NC State defeated FSU 2 weeks ago , had a bye week and in my opinion was thoroughly outplayed by the Terps. As has happened the past few weeks with the Ravens, sometimes the team that plays better doesn’t win. Even NC State’s coach Tom O’Brien admitted as much in his idiotic post game statement:
“Sometimes when you play a school like Maryland — everything goes bad when we play them. Sometimes something crazy happens like it did at the end. You have to give our kids credit, they hung in there. We made a play. Our defense is so good in the last two minutes, and we let the guy out twice there. Sometimes over the course of a season you have to win a game where you scratch your head a little bit. ” Tom, your 2 minute defense was pathetic. Our 3rd string QB, who had never taken a college snap drove 60 yds in 25 seconds.
The Terps had this game just about put away 4 times. On 4th and one I thought Randy might go for it but the percentage book probably said not to. For those of you who question the fight and heart of this squad, I don’t know what you have been watching. After Perry was injured (and it seems like it might be an extensive injury) Devon Burns came off the bench and the offense performed brilliantly. After the go ahead FG by NCS, Edsall was forced to burn the redshirt of his remaining passing QB–Fr Caleb Rowe. Locksley had Caleb ready to go–remember it was his first college snap.
Wes Brown returned to the lineup and so did the rushing game. He rushed for 125 yards on 25 carries.
The early goal was to get the ball to Diggs. Stefon had a quiet return game today but still finished with 6 catches for 61 yards all of which were in the 1st half.
What should have been –Terps 5-2 with bowl eligible game at BC next week, and 3-0 in the conference. Oh well.

Brad Craddock might have been better off with a 45 plus field goal attempt. He missed 2 short ones and an PAT. I feel for the kid and hope he can bounce back.
That’s enough for me on this game–I am still sick about it and its 2AM.

tough tough loss. no way you go on 4th and one and if you don’t make it leave ncst a 50 yd field. amazed how well the running game went after burns came in and more amazed how well rowe played. we might have a qb controversy but if hills is out i think you have play rowe because he can pass and he sure looked mobile enough to run when needed. need a kicker the team can depend on. is bernardo bramson available?

This is the most entertaining and best coached Terp team in memory.
Hopefully the Edsall haters have been silenced, though not expected.
Unfortunately, like I have said, the injury and replacement QB’s just illustrate the poor choice of Hills as the starting QB. I obviously hope his injury is not serious, but the offense with him at QB was non threatening to defenses. What a diff the “replacements” made.
Future is exciting for this band of physical, exciting and yes talented fballers.

i think the reason most fans really couldn’t stand edsall was the things he would say after games. he constantly threw players, ex coaches etc under the bus and took no blame or responsibility for the way the team played, the lack of adjustments etc. he was flat our classless. that said they have yet to beat a good team, edsall is something like 1-25 against top 25 teams in his career. now that said i thought yesterday’s game despite the outcome was very entertaining once hills went out. for the first time this year it sounded like the crowd was really into the game. just sad the defense let up and the kicker missed a fairly routine kick. had he made that kick i think he would have been almost automatic the rest of the year. if you remember nick novack’s freshman year he started off slowly and then he hit a game winner vs g tech on a thursday nite game and after that he was great
