Terps Ease Past Wildcats 77-57 –Moving to 10-4 in the ACC Big Ten Challenge

Dez Wells set a career high with 23 points as Maryland blew out Northwestern in the second half en route to a 77-57 win on Tuesday night.

Maryland (5-1) led 28-26 at halftime but broke the game open in the second half, scoring on its first 10 possessions. The run stretched the lead to 47-34.

Wells finished the spurt by hitting a 3-pointer and going coast-to-coast for a layup after a Northwestern turnover. Maryland improved to 10-4 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge with the victory.

Alex Len had 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Nick Faust added 10 points and six boards. The Terps, who came into the game ranked second nationally in rebounding margin, held a 47-19 advantage on the boards. from umterps.com

My take: This is the Dez Wells I watched at the opening scrimmage. He was flawless shooting 9-11 with 3 assists. Alex and padge put this game away early in the 2nd half with just a totally dominate inside game. When Northwestern countered with a 1-3-1, Logan Aronhalt put he Wildcats to sleep with 3 threes. So after day 1 the Big Ten is up 4-2 with the Hokies providing the other victory. Next up for the Teps George mason on Sunday afternoon.
