Turgeon poses With “Turgeon Guys”

There is no doubt that after tonight’s game Jake Layman has found a home in the starting lineup. He finished with 14 points and one thing is for sure the Terps are not even in this game without him.

Alex was much more aggressive tonight landing a double double with 16 points and 13 bounds. Alex has to learn to keep the ball up at all times as he continues to get stripped.

Let’s face it with Duke and FSU on the road as our next 2 games this was a must win for Maryland. BC lived for a while by the 3 but eventually died by the 3.

BC had some success taking it directly in against Alex. Of course that was helped by the fact that Shaq and Mitchell barely played.

As usual the Terps held the opponent to 35% shooting and outrebounded them 37-29.

There certainly were moments of offensive ball movement though certainly it was in spurts. Dez wells kind of took the role of point forward with 9 assists. It just seems that sooner or later the buckets will fall but until that happens I would expect to see more of the 3 and 4 guard sets.

Ryan Anderson had 19 points, and Olivier Hanlan scored 18 for the Eagles.

I asked Turgeon post game about the slow starts and he quickly responded that he is coaching play by play, that 5 missed easy buckets would have given us a big half time lead, and that the team is still a work in progress. Layman was the difference tonight as he was against Virginia Tech. I doubt if we will see a quick hook on him again in the near future.

Juan Dixon, Kevin Plank, LaQuan Williams (in Bisciotti’s seats, Lonnie Baxter, and Buck Williams were in the house tonight. A thunderous O from the student body during the anthem.

watched the first half and then changed channel to watch justified. this team is boring to watch. they barely beat a team with little height and less experience. it’s a win and that always good but i’m losing interest in this team at this time. at one point in the first half bc was 3 for 18 from the field and the game was close.

I agree about the difficulty in watching and maintaining interesting this team.
Boring and stupid seems o be the order of the day.
Granted that Dez brings stability and skills to the point, and Jake is the best facilitator into the post, but Turgeon will change it all before the next game.
After 4months, shouldn’t he be able to make rotation decisions and solidify the main8players already.
It seems clear that Peshon and Padgett are just emergency subs, and that Shaq and Mitchell are after thoughts at this point. They are not ready fir prime time.
Nick is out of control, and please tell me why he is defending under the basket in the last minute, when the team is up by 6 , and his assignment is hitting 3’s? He is clueless.
That leaves Len, Layman, Wells, Allen and Nick as your only go to guys.
Time to pull a Coach K, and go with 7/8 if you can.
