Terps Drop NIT Semis to Iowa 71-60 Despite Tremendous Performance by Alex

17 turnovers , poor shooting selection and foul line problems did the Terps in tonight. But there was something about this team down the wire that changed. Turgeon worked as hard as any coach I have ever seen trying to turn this team around and in many ways he succeeded. But the sloppy play did us in again.

If this was his final game as a Terp, Alex Len certainly went out in a blaze of glory. 16 points, 9 rebounds, 7 or 8 altered shots, 6 blocks, no turnovers. Alex’ basketball acumen has grown exponentially, and he will be sorely missed when  he leaves for the next level.

Dez was inhibited by playing with 4 fouls most of the 2nd half. When Turge gets him to cut the turnovers and play more under control, maryland will have a prime time player.

Nick was his usual aggressive self finishing with 14 points on 5-14 shooting but his wild shot near the end of the game ended the Terps chances for a comeback win.

This team finished with 25 wins but in most of it’s 13 losses the high number of turnovers and the inability to get the ball to Alex in his right position, and the sometimes poor shooting contributed mightily to the 13 losses. But down the stretch of the season, Maryland played with a much higher resolve from beginning to end of almost every game. Thank you James Padgett for 4 solid years as a student athlete. Thank you Logan Aronhalt and hope you were able to utilize your graduate year at College Park.

Let the conversation begin about the 2013-14 Terps. November 8 at the Barclays Center is only 215 days away.

i’ve never seen a team just give the ball away time after time than this team. announced crowd was 10,000. 3 card montee games in ny draw more. how many recruits said to themselves, wow maryland is in the nit. gotta go to school there. and how in the world does kevin anderson pay turgeon a bonus for making the nit. let’s pay extra for mediocrity. not a good year for md basketball. and 3 straight years missing the ncaa, 6 out of the last 9. as the brooklyn dodgers fans used to say…wait til next year!

Thankfully the season is mercifully over.
Impossible for me to watch this “team” non perform.
It has to be the absolute dumbest group in memory.
No bball IQ, no offensive scheme, minimal individual improvement.
The jury is definitely out on Turgeon.
The heat will truly be on next year. Am not optimistic , especially when a 7’1″ exiting lottery pick, made so little difference.
