Kathy and myself journeyed to New York on Wednesday for the afternoon Matinee showing of perhaps the biggest hit Broadway has seen—-Hamilton. Yes the tickets were expensive, though I got a pretty good deal from a New York broker, after hours of searching. Our friends who had seen the show just raved and raved. Now I am certainly not a Patron of the Arts but I have seen my fair share of shows on Broadway, in Bmore, San Francisco, Vegas, etc.
Before seeing Hamilton , I had about a 3 day Hamilton immersion of his story and the music of the show. 41 songs!! What a story about the 1st Treasurer of the US, George Washington’s right hand man, a brilliant Commander, and certainly one who led a very controversial life.
What separated this show from my previous favorite–Phantom and Les Miserables was the truly Americana aspect of the show. It was a riveting, sad, had an incredible score, and the most contagiously enthusiastic audience I have ever seen. The 3 hours were spell binding and just flew by.
Treat yourself to this miraculous show. It’s worth it.
