Seniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and freshmen Destiny Slocum and Kaila Charles earned All-Big Ten honors the league announced Monday.
Jones and Walker-Kimbrough were unanimous selections to the All-Big Ten First Team by both the league’s head coaches and media panel. This is the third straight First Team honor for both and both were also named to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team. Slocum was voted Freshman of the Year and to the All-Big Ten Second Team by the coaches and the media. Charles was named to the coaches’ All-Big Ten Freshman Team.
“We really appreciate everyone who voted for our players,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “There are a lot of great players in our league. This is a testament to the hard work these individuals have put in this season, and also a product of how much success the team has had.”
“This is a tremendous honor,” Slocum said. “It’s always good to see your hard work pay off, but I also have to give thanks to my team and coaches. Without them, this award wouldn’t have been possible, so credit to them. Our journey’s not over, and I’m excited for what’s next.”
