If you follow Maryland Basketball you have likely been hearing a lot about this kid named Jamorko Pickett. However, many people have questions about him. He seemingly came out of nowhere and is now the focus of Terp sports. Let’s break down some FAQ’s about Jamorko.
What are his measurables?
Jamorko Pickett stands at 6’7” and weighs in at 190 pounds.
What class is he a part of?
He is a part of the 2017 class, meaning that he will be suiting up for someone (hopefully with the colors red, white, black, and gold) next season.
What position is he?
He is considered a power forward by most, he is what I would consider a flex four skill set, in that he is rebounder/down low type that can also shoot. His size may force him to learn to play the 3.
Where is he from and Where did he go to high school?
Pickett was born and raised in Washington DC. He attended Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Virginia located in the Shenandoah Valley.
What is he rated?
Jamorko is a four-star, ranked 115 by 24/7, 93 by ESPN, 77 by Rivals, and 52 by Scout. This puts his 24/7 composite ranking at 76th in the nation.
Where has he been?
This is probably the most asked question in terms of Jamorko Pickett is “where has this 4-star recruit been during this whole cycle?” Jamorko Pickett has had an interesting ride. he was rated as a much lower recruit for most of 2016, he only held two major offers (Ole Miss, and Rhode Island). He verballed to Ole Miss on October 20th, 2016, and signed a letter of intent on 11/9/2016. Jamorko had a meteoric rise during this senior season, shooting up the charts till he went from a two-star recruit when he signed with Ole Miss to now being a four-star.
What happened with Ole Miss?
On 7/14/2017 Jamorko was granted release from Ole Miss. Neither Ole Miss nor Pickett have given a reason for why he left Ole Miss, but there seems to only one logical reason, he wants to be closer to home. I say this because…
Where is he looking to go?
Immediately after his release from Ole Miss Pickett narrowed down his re-recruitment to two schools both close to home, Georgetown and Maryland.
Where is he leaning?
He visited Georgetown on Tuesday the 18th, and is visiting Maryland today (the 21st). He seems to be a consensus Maryland lean, we will likely know this weekend where he decides to go.
