I was honored today to emcee the Breakfast at Westminister Hall on Fayette St featuring Mark Turgeon and Brenda Frese previewing the inaugural BIG 10 Season. Some of the highlights of the question and answer session:

Turgeon stressed the basketball maturity of Melo Trimble when I asked if he was ready to be the point guard.

Checko (Michal Cekovsky) has been working on playing with his back to the basket. Also he is very experienced coming from Europe.

Big edge for the O’s has KC’s snowball that was rolling downhill has to take a step back. I know the stats –1 2 game home losers have never won, KC’s duo of Wade Davis and Carlos Herrera have been unhittable, etc. but things can change like they did when the lights went out in the Super Bowl. Winning on the road for the O’s is no problem. The O’s are down 2-0 but should they win on Tuesday KC … Read More »

Never a game–it’s as simple as that. By getting the ball first, the Ravens marched down the field, led by a 50 yard run by Justin Forsett and quickly Joe fired to Torrey—7-0. Here are the simple facts: In all of baseball history, only 13 teams have come back from a 2-0 deficit to win a seven-game series. Only three did it after losing the first two games at home. The New York Yankees were the last to pull it off, in the 1996 World Series.

After thinking about the games, the one clear difference between the 2 squads is the bullpen. Herraraand Davis and been lockdown while Miller has been for the O’s. Buck was quick to point out that 2 gb hits beat Britton. It certainly isn’t KC’s starting pitching–Big game James and Ventura have been as inept as Tillman and Norris.

The X factor–the Orioles really miss Chris Davis. Pearce has failed to deliver many times in these 2 games. The lineup has … Read More »
