Head coach Randy Edsall and staff brought in a talented group of running backs that included Justus Pickett, Brandon Ross and fullback Tyler Cierski.
Pickett played in all 12 games as a true freshman in 2011 and finished third on the team in rushing yards. Cierski also played in all 12 games as the No. 1 fullback and saw extensive action on special teams. Ross, meanwhile, served a redshirt season and preserved four years of eligibility.

Maryland senior defensive lineman Joe Vellano on Thursday was named to the watch lists for the Bronco Nagurski Trophy and the Outland Trophy.
The Nagurski Trophy is given annually to the nation’s best defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the Charlotte Touchdown Club; the Outland Trophy is given to the best interior lineman in college football and includes 71 players, just 18 of which are defensive tackles.
