In the South , signing day is bigger then NFL draft day. The Miami Herald and Sun Sentinel devote full sections to it. Alabama sits on pins and needles waiting for the verbals to make it official. Verbals are just that–Wednesday is the day. Here are the Verbal commits for Randy Edsall and the Terps

This is absolutely great news for Randy Edsall and the University of Maryland.  Crowton is former head coach of BYU and Louisiana Tech but has not stood out at LSU. I will take my chances with Crowton and Danny O’Brien. here is the story from ESPN:

Gary Crowton says he’s resigning as LSU‘s offensive coordinator to take a similar job at Maryland where he will be reunited with new Terrapins coach Randy Edsall.  Crowton has been with LSU … Read More »

terrapintimes.com is reporting that Gary Crowton is close to leaving LSU and joining the staff of Maryland as Offensive Coordinator. This is a great move by Coach Edsall. He will be surrounded by Don Brown as DC and Crowton. Both are former head coaches. I am liking Edsall more and more with each passing day. Danny O’Brien will flourish under Crowton’s offense. Close the deal guys!!!!

Maryland head coach Randy Edsall announced Monday that Greg Gattuso, Lyndon Johnson, David Walker and Andrew Wilson have joined the football staff.  Gattuso will oversee the defensive line, Johnson will instruct the special teams unit, as well as tutoring the outside linebackers, Walker will handle running backs and Wilson will serve as the strength and conditioning coach. The former head coach of Duquesne (1992-04), Gattuso spent the last six seasons at the University of Pittsburgh. A few days later, here are some of my thoughts on the hiring of Randy Edsall:

1) I think a lot of the anger shown by the fan base towards Kevin Anderson was for the wrong reasons. It seemed that fans were disgruntled because Kevin Anderson “fired Fridge to hire Edsall.” This is not the case. Kevin Anderson fired Fridge because he felt it was the right time for Fridge to go. After the 2009 season, most (if not … Read More »

Coach Randy Edsall’s first moves were winners in my eyes–keeping Defensive Coordinator Don Brown and Wide receivers coach Lee Hull.

Sorry, I can never forget the whipping Beamer put on his best friend Ralph Friedgen 55-6 several years back. So yes I enjoyed every second of watching Stanford destroy the Hokies. By the way where was Hokie Nation–the Orange Bowl seemed empty!!!
As I said when I watched Stanford annhilate Cal a few months ago, Jim Harbaugh is the best coach in the nation and whoever is 2nd is so far back we can’t see him. There is no … Read More »

Embedded below is the audio from Randy Edsall’s introductory press conference today.  I’ll have some thoughts and analysis on the presser over the next few days, but if you didn’t get to catch the broadcast on TerpsTV, take a listen to the audio below.  The audio cuts out with about 5 minutes left in the press conference as there wasn’t enough space on my recorder (my apologies!).

Everything about Randy’s first presser was positive today. He spoke only of ACC championships as judgment criteria for the football team. He genuinely seems ecstatic about being here. There’s just not much to say–Anderson was hired as AD to fill vacant posts and he alone (according to him) should be held responsible for the decision. Randy surely is qualified for the job. I ilked how he handled himself with the press. Chick Hernandez spoke of the uproar of Terrapin nation … Read More »
