It’s their third meeting this season. The Terps won with a late move in South Bend on April 19; ND had a comeback 6-5 win in ACC semis at PPL.
Notre Dame lost the NCAA title in 2010 to Duke in overtime; they’ve never won a title. Maryland lost in the 2011 and 2012 finals and haven’t won a title since 1975.
The featured matchup is between Terp defender Goran Murray and ND lefty Matt Kavanagh. The face-off battle between … Read More »
For 4 years Niko Amato has been the fulcrum of Maryland’s defense. Each year he has clearly been one of the top 2 or 3 goalies in the NCAA. Edward Lee of the Sun laid out the stats:
“Amato became the first goalkeeper in the history of the Atlantic Coast Conference to be named to the All-ACC team four times. He has recorded 601 career saves, becoming only the third … Read More »
Hopkins and Maryland are in different halves of the draw. Interesting!!!
This might shock you but I was rooting for Cuse to beat Bryant. I gave Syracuse no chance of beating Maryland, despite what the so called experts said. The Terps dominated Syracuse in their meeting in the dome so badly, it was laughable. Bryant presents the unknown. Great face off guy, excellent goalie, ball control team—sounds familiar doesn’t it.
Strong effort by Hopkins crushing UVA today. Duke had a … Read More »

Maryland freshman attackman Connor Cannizzaro and Duke senior attackman Jordan Wolf have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Maryland junior faceoff specialist Charlie Raffa is this week’s Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the conference.
Some comments on a very disappointing Terrapin loss at Homewood:
Yes it was Groiundhog again for the Terps. A carbon copy repeat of last year’s loss to Hopkins at College Park.
I am concerned about the offense’s sudden inabilty to score 6 on 6.
Charlie Raffa utterly dominated Drew Kennedy 15-6 causing Pietramala to switch gears and use Michael Pellegrino at the X.
When Jesse Schwartzmann was on Terp Talk Wednesday , he commented that Hopkins was working on groundballs … Read More »

Thirteen turnovers in the first half. The Terps seemed a step slow and not emotionally charged. Some outside shots kept them in the game — from Henry West in particular. But a characteristic of a champion is finding a way to win an important ball game when you’re not clicking at full speed. Maryland did that. Whether it was subtle adjustments or a gut check delivered from a team leader, this halftime can be used as a turning point or … Read More »
