We can certainly take some pride in seeing four Terps’ teams compete against Big Ten foes and come away with four wins but there’s one element tying together three of those four wins in particular that is unique and noteworthy. See if you can spot it.

Trey Mancini hit two of Baltimore’s five home runs — all in the first three innings — and the Orioles powered their way to a 12-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. A night after Boston’s bats put up eight runs, Baltimore returned the favor against Wright by tagging him for six in a first inning that included back-to-back homers from Mancini and Jonathan Schoop. Showdown between Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia was absolutely spellbinding. It was easy to see the crowd’s desire to see Sergio win. Being that Fowler, Spieth, and Hoffman faltered–the crowd got behind the guy who had never one a major and rooted him home. This was not the Ryder Cup.  Now it’s time for Westwood and Rickie to end the major jinx.

6 months later Zach Britton finally pitched the 2 scoreless innings that were left on the table in 2016.  ONCE AGAIN Mark Trumbo delivered a GW HR. Thank heavens the O’s did not repeat the “Cruz” faux pas of not resigning a massive HR hitter. Chris Davis 3 great short hop scoops for the O’s. Manny just keeps being Manny with an incredible play in the 11th. Tons of empty for Opening Day? Why?  Great win for the O’s to … Read More »
