Seniors Alex Aust and Katie Schwarzmann combined for nine goals as the No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team stayed perfect in 2013 with a 15-10 victory against Penn Saturday.

Aust notched a game-high six goals and one assist to lead Maryland (13-0, 3-0 ACC) as it kicked off a four-game homestand. Schwarzmann netted a hat trick and added three draw controls and three ground balls. Kelly McPartland and Beth Glaros pitched in with two goals apiece.

The No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team capped its weekend action with a stellar defensive effort in an 8-3 win at No. 18 Stony Brook Sunday.

Maryland (9-0, 3-0 ACC) held its opponent to a mere eight shots for the second consecutive game and allowed only eight goals in two victories on the weekend. Katie Schwarzmann led the offense with a hat trick and Alex Aust recorded four points on two goals and two assists.

The Terrapin machine rolls on. Alex pushed up  her 4 game total to 38 points and Brooke Griffin added 4G and 2 assists as this game was a blowout from the get go. The Terps move to 7-0 and head for 3 road games at BC, Stony Brook, and W&M.

Fueled by a career-high 10 points from senior Alex Aust, the No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team defeated No. 6 Virginia 18-10 Friday night. Aust tallied five goals and five assists – tying the third-highest point total in Terrapin single-game history – as Maryland (4-0, 2-0 ACC) dropped its third straight top-10 ranked foe. Memo-11 The superlatives flow for Cathy Reese and her band of Terrapins. After losing to Duke and Carolina in the regular season, Maryland exacted revenge –easily defeating both and gaining the ACC Championship and automatic bid to the big dance!!

 Karri Ellen Johnson scored five goals and Alex Aust dished four assists to lead the No. 3 Maryland women’s lacrosse team past Towson 13-3 Tuesday. All five of Johnson’s goals came in the first half and pushed the senior attacker’s mark to 215, five shy of No. 2 on the Terps’ career goals list. Juniors Karri Ellen Johnson and Kristy Black combined for nine goals to pace No. 1 Maryland past No. 20 Boston College, 20-9, in Atlantic Coast Conference action Sunday. Johnson (5g) led a group of five Terps in double-digit scoring, including Black (4), Laura Merrifield (3), Brandi Jones (2) and Katie Schwarzmann (2). Sarah Mollison dished out a game-high five assists and sophomore Alex Aust added three.

Niko Amato (goalie) , Jesse Bernhardt, brother of Jake, and Landon Carr will represent the Terrapins as they join the 2009 incoming class in the Under Armour game tonight.

Five incoming Lady freshmen,  Alex Aust (Sterling, Va./Bullis), Danielle Kirk (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding), Sarah Matz (Reistertown, Md./Bryn Mawr), Iliana Sanza (Cockeysville, Md./St. Paul’s), and Katie Schwarzmann (Sykesville, Md./Century) will all play for the North squad.
