I wonder what is on Flip Saunders mind as the Wizards are now at 2-6 and rapidly fading into an abyss. Gilbert is in control of the team but not in control of his game. When you watch the Phoenix Suns run their offense you can see the difference in having a tremendous playmaker on the team. Steve Nash gets everyone involved, there is no 1 on1 or standing around. Andray Blatche again played some excellent basketball scoring 20 points. He has made a great turnaround. The Wizards sorely miss Mike Miller and Antawn during this tough opening stretch.
Despite 17 points apiece from Blatche and Nick Young, the Wizards fell to Portland 78-73 in the first Las Vegas Summer league game. First round pick Javal McGee scored 11 but more importantly displayed shot blocking skills and strong aggressive play. Jerryd Bayless dominated the court for the Trailblazers, giving indication that Steve Blake’s minutes this year will definitely be reduced.
