Vlady 1-5 no RBI again—-Dead spot in cleanup position—-Reynolds 15 HR 40 RBI—Matusz 8 rins in 3 innings—Gonzo 2 shutout innings—Reimhold 3 run HR—O’s get 15 hits and lose
9 HRs but the one that got me was the 2nd meatball Matusz serve up to the best player in baseball, Joey Votto. Oriole fans learned what their team needs, a true power hitter who can produce with men on base -not an aging Superstar who spurned our offers when he was in his prime. Vlad is killing the team with his lack of clean up production and lack of speed. His attitude is still great but not much is … Read More »
The only bright spot today was the superb mop up session of Mata pitching 3 innings and allowing just 1 run. Saturday, Andy MacPhail was raving about how great Felix Pie could be if he just stayed healthy. Well Sunday, Pie put on a defensive exhibit that set the game of baseball back 40 tears. Expect the dumping expert, Mr MacPhail to further cripple this hapless team in the next 10 days.

Remember anyone can be a closer. I will not bring up his name again. In watching Oriole Centerfielders for 50 years, I don’t ever remember seeing one misplay a fly ball as poorly as Adam Jones did in the 6th inning, spoiling Brian Matusz shutout. This team is just awful.
Folks in Washington are battling for Nats tickets while Oriole fans are barely watching. As each day goes by everything gets worse.Adam Jones pathetically strikes out with bases loaded and 1 out in the 7th. The the ultimate a 2 run throwing error by Tejada on a fairly routine ground ball. I don’y know about you, but how many years do we have to endure being humiliated by the Yankees. It’s a joke and in some ways it’s easier not … Read More »
Andy MacPhail made the right move. I am never in favor of managerial moves just for the sake of a move. Look how disastrous it has been for the O’s. The demise of the Birds this year was based on the dismissing of George Sherrill and Aubrey Huff. Joe Torre could not have won with this team. Dave Trembley has been given a 24th hour pardon. He knows what needs to be done. With the exception of Markakis and Wieters, … Read More »
Losing Sherrill would not have changed anything significantly for the Orioles. Last place with him or without him. However MacPhail is doing a great job despite the w-l record. The foundation is being set for a much better season next year and a contending team in probably 2 to 2 1/2 years from now. Outstanding young outfield, good double play combo, terrific young catcher, several quality young arms in the rotation. promising prospect at 3rd base, Josh Bell, picked up … Read More »
The O’s need 3 wins to avoid the embarrassment of losing 100 games. I said it the day Sherrill was traded, that it was the forfeiture of the season. The bullpen blew another game last night. What I don’t understand is how in the 10th inning , Trembley had an outfielder strike out on a foul bunt with a runner on first. Someone please explain.
Weiters, Jones, Roberts, Markakis, Matusz, Tillman, Reimhold period.
Welcome to the bigs Brian. It was like batting practice for the Blue Jays. Matusz got the drubbing he escaped from in Detroit. The Birds are now 46-65.
