The University of Maryland women’s soccer team checked in at No. 16 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason poll, which was released on Tuesday.  The ACC is well-represented in the poll with seven teams in the Top 25: North Carolina (No. 1), Florida State (6), Boston College (7), Wake Forest (10), Virginia Tech (15), Maryland (16) and Virginia (17). The University of Maryland women’s soccer team’s run in the NCAA tournament came to an end with a 1-0 loss to No. 1 seed North Carolina Saturday afternoon at Fetzer Field. The lone goal of the game came in the 82nd minute when Carolina’s Casey Nogueira finished a Jessica McDonald throw-in from 25 yards out. The No. 8 University of Maryland women’s soccer team’s home unbeaten streak of nine matches, dating back to last season, came to an end Thursday night at Ludwig Field with a 3-1 loss to No. 11 Wake Forest.  Maryland, who had held the ACC’s longest unbeaten streak at six games, drops to 12-3-2 on the season and 4-3-2 in conference play.
