I guess I picked the right game to go to!!! Nicholas Backstrom scored the equalizer and winning goals , but it was the furious play of Brooks Laich (3 assists) and Joel ward that triggered the comeback. Maybe it was just a funk that all of the Capital superstars were in, maybe from the 2 losses on the road. But after Tom Greene “unleashed the Fury” on the jumbotron, the crowd and the team came alive. Tuesday night and there … Read More »
Please don’t ever criticize Baltimore sports fans. For an absolutely meaningless hockey game, they filled The First Mariner Arena Tuesday night. Nashville shut out the Caps 2-0.
The Capitals left their goalie Michael Neuwirth hanging alone in the wind during ot as Tampa notched a 3-2 victory putting the Caps in danger of another failed playoff run.#8 tied the game with 1 minute left in regulation, giving Washington the supposed momentum to even up the series. The Caps got caught in a line switch allowing Tampa a 1 on none fast break and the rest is history. Who takes the fall for the loss?
After 2 periods of Wednesday night’s game against the Rangers the skeletons were coming out of the closet once more. Boudreau’s inciting of the crowd would be blamed for the series loss, the Caps again would blow a 1-8 playoff series and on and on. BUT this year’s team is different. Rallying to tie the score in regulation and them dominating OT play makes the average Caps fan start dreaming about what might be.
The score of this game should have been 5-1. But thanks to a pair of sloppy errors by Karl Alzner and Tyler Sloan, this game was much closer than it needed to be. Alzner whiffed on a clear after a faceoff, leading directly to a Brian Boyle goal. Will someone besides #8 please step up before the Caps are forced to get out the golf clubs. Mike Green please show up. Mr Federov where have you been. Poti why score for Pittsburgh. The defense has abandoned Varlamov leaving him on an island by himself making saves. Monday will be Judgement Day for the Caps. A win brings home a Game 7 on Wednesday, a loss starts the second guessing about what happened and who is to blame.

My impressions of a great 3-2 playoff victory over Sidney Crosby and the Penquins.
The Capital’s goalie Varlamov was stupendous especially stopping Crosby when the score was knotted at 2-2
This crowd reminded me of a Comcast Maryland Duke crowd. Say no more!!!
It just seemed to … Read More »
sun-april-61 After a 5 year hiatus, the Capitals under the reign of new coach Bruce Boudreau return to the playoffs as a #3 seed. Led by the scoring of Alex Ovechkin and the goaltending of Cristobal Huet, this sinking franchise has surged into the NHL hierarchy. O’s fans there is hope. The O’s are 3-1 after defeating Seattle again Saturday night. The wizards moved to 40-37 with an outside chance of getting home court advantage over Cleveland in the first … Read More »
