It sure didn’t take long for ex-Terrapin coach Dave Cottle to land a head coaching interview. The Nittany Lions will meet with Cottle some time this week according to Mike Preston. I believe that this could be a quick hire for Dave as he would immediately turn the program around.
University of Maryland men’s lacrosse coach Dave Cottle stepped down today after nine seasons leading the Terrapins. Cottle led Maryland to eight-consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, including three Final Fours, the last of which came in 2006. The NCAA lacrosse brackets were released tonight and both Maryland squads were seeded highly as expected. The men are the #3 seed and take on Hofstra in the first round while a date with Syracuse awaits them in the Final Four. The women are the #1 seed and play Marist in the first round with a potential matchup against Georgetown in the Final Four.

As predicted yesterday, by virtue of defeating #4 Virginia and #1 North Carolina over the weekend the Lady Terps are back on top of the rankings where they belong. Northwestern is a close 2nd and Carolina and Virginia follow at 3rd and 4th.

One year ago the Terps and the Hoos engaged in a Classic 6 OT Battle in which the Terps won were victorious in the 1st overtime on a goal by Grant Catalino–errrrrrrrr wait a minute someone from the UVA sideline called a timeout as Maryland was in transition and the refs granted it—5 overtimes later UVA scored and the Terps season was never the same.
