Here is some info on Haukur Palsson, the incoming Maryland swingman from Montverde (Fla.) Academy who played in last night’s Capital Classic: Palsson had three points and four rebounds in the game and said he hopes to help Maryland on the boards next season. Of the three future Terps in the game, Palsson was the toughest to evaluate. High school all-star games are all about creating shots and passes.
24 hours after THE GAME:
Down the wire this was a true team effort. The guy who really stood out was Jordan Williams. It’s unusual for a Freshman to do everything right at crunch time but he did. A put back lay up, tough defense, a blocked shot and making free throws. Every game, Jordan gets better. … Read More »
The Lady Terps dropped to 18-9 overall and 5-7 in the ACC after a tough loss at Cameron Indoor today. Lori Bjork led the way for the Terps with 14 points including 4 threes. The Terps actually led 46-43 in the 2nd half and were only down by a point with 5 minutes left before a cold shooting spell … Read More »
Following a disappointing loss to Navy less than 24 hours ago, the seventh-ranked University of Maryland wrestling team wasted little time in showing its mettle against conference foes North Carolina State and Duke. In front of 814 fans at Comcast Pavilion, the Terrapins downed the Wolfpack 30-10 and handed Duke a 32-9 defeat … Read More »
I have said it all year—there is no true leader in the ACC. The Terrapins have a TREMENDOUS opportunity to jump out and take hold of the upper ACC echelon. Duke was Destroyed tonight by NC State and Carolina lost its 3rd in a row- this time to Wake by 13 points in the Dean Dome. NC State … Read More »
I have now watched Carolina, Duke, Wake, BC, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Clemson and I can conclude that I don’t see any team the Terps can’t defeat, especially if their intensity remains the level it has been at for the first 3 games of the ACC season.
I never like to overanalyze a schedule before the season, but this years Terrapin schedule is pretty typical. It has the usual run of 7 games before New Year’s that should be in the win column. Funny thing is that in the past few a loss in any of the 7 has been viewed as a disaster. Forget the fact Morgan Sytate was on fire last year from the 3 point line. Highlighting the Maui Tourney could be a possible … Read More »

I think Maryland needs to follow a similar blueprint that got them to the final 4 in 2002. 4 man big man rotation. Padgett, Williams, Goins, and Gregory. Padgett and Williams will be a tremendous upgrade from Braxton Dupree. I don’t think you can expect Williams and Padgett to do a lot offensively particularly early in the season, but they need to play defense, rebound on both ends, alter some shots, block some shots and be able to catch the ball down … Read More »
Can you imagine at one point Virginia led Johns Hopkins 17-5. Hopkins defense was non existent as Glading, Steele Stanwyk, and Shamel Bratton pummeled Hopkins goalie Mike Gvozden. Duke won 12-11 and will now play Syracuse on Saturday. Virginia will play Cornell. Look for UVA and Syracuse to advance with Virginia exacting revenge on Cuse in the final and winning the Championship.
