ESPN is reporting that ex-Terrapin Joe Smith has signed a 1 year deal with Atlanta. Joe finished last season with the Cavs but was used sparingly in the playoffs.
40 Games in 40 nights has proven one thing to me: Kobe Bryant is still the best player in basketball. Sorry Melo, LeBron, Dwight –Kobe plays 48 minutes, takes a beating without complaining, and is able not to wear down. No matter who wins the East it’s the Lakers in no more then 6 games for the title.
It’s hard to believe the effect Ron Artest has had on Kobe. #24 seems to be out of sorts being frustrated by the constant defense being inflicted on him by Battier and Artest. The Lakers will win game 7 but appear to be vulnerable to Denver and thouroughly outmatched by LeBron and the Cavaliers. Let’s see what Jackson can do to coach these guys back to dominance.

After a trade to New Orlaens was nixed by Tyson Chandler failing his physical, the Oklahoma City Thunder sent the ex Maryland power forward to the New York Knicks for Malik Rose. “Chris is a gifted athletic big man that brings toughness and solidifies our interior defense,” Coach Mike D’Antoni said. Joe Smith also part of the failed trade, is rumored to be signing with the World Champion Boston Celtics.
Maybe the Wizards will send Juan to the Hornets. In a move that looked like salary cap dumping the New Orleans Hornets sent once promising center Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City for the 2 ex terps.Certainly Joe Smith is on the South end of a long NBA career but perhaps Wilcox can finally find a place to call home!!! With selection Sunday looming, the Terrapin Men’s lacrosse needs a win over Yale to finish the season 9-5 and probably secure a home game in the 1st round of the NCAAs. It’s Senior day at College park with the face off at 1PM. The Lady Terps venture into Baltimore to play at Loyola tomorrow at 4PM.

To no surprise, Terrapin head lacrosse coach Dave Cottle was named ACC Coach of the Year, prior to the start of the ACC Tournament at UVA. Joe Cinofsky and Jeff reynolds were named to 1st team All-ACC. The Terps face UVA tonight at 7:30 on ACC Select TV.
