Maybe this will be the breakout year for Matt.

Markakis 2, Vlad 1, Adam Jones 1–that;s four dingers from the Orioles projected starting lineup. Not bad. O’s win 12-6 with Mr A in attendance.

As usual the Birds probably brought up Weiters beforn he was ready. But—-he is really beginning to come into his own. Seven RBIs in the last 2 games including a 2 run walkoff homer.

PTBNL= Player to be named later. Not so sure about that trade. Catching depth is crucial in a pennant race. OOPS. 3 years too early.

The Orioles continue to sink deeper into last place as the abysmal road show continues. Brian Roberts and Markakis each had 3 hits last night in a losing cause. Jim Palmer commented that SP Hill had absolutely nothing on his ball and basically was just throwing and hoping. He can not continue to start. Again the highlight of the game was a tremendous throw from Markakis to Weiters nailing Jeter at home.

Does it ever end. Last night Cesar Izturis forgot to check with his 3rd base coach when rounding 2nd base. “With Cesar Izturis on first base and one out, Brian Roberts hit a shot off the right-field wall. If I were Dave Trembley I would do the following :

Demand as much pitching help as he can get. The future is now.

Put on the brakes on the team’s baserunning. The O’s have run themselves out of many games.

KEEP GEORGE SHERRILL ON THE TEAM. Do not let this guy go.

Trembley must not be a part of another August September swoon!!!

Well it wasn’t pretty or titanic, Matt Wieters first home run was a wind blown opposite field fly that just cleared the wall to give the O’s a 3-1 lead. Later in the 7th with the score tied at 4 Aubrey Huff went deep to give the O’s the W. In Bowie rookie phenom Brian Matusz threw 6 innings of shutout ball.

I guess i jumped the gun a little. Tiger pitching slowed down the suddenly vaunted Oriole attack Sunday , shutting out the Birds 3-0. Making his second big-league start, Baltimore rookie Jason Berken (1-1) gave up one run, four hits and two walks in seven innings. The only glaring flaw in his outing was a fourth-inning solo shot by Curtis Granderson. The O’s now head to the Left Coast to play Seattle Sunday night.
