The Orioles are mired in a five game losing streak in which the pitching has been bad, the defense has been the worst in the major leagues, and the offense, which had been producing at a record pace, has been anemic. This has many people shaking their heads, claiming, “Here we go again.” The wheels seem to be coming loose on the bandwagon.
Baseball history tells us, however, that this is not unusual. Every playoff team goes through bad stretches. … Read More »
Bottom of the ninth 2 out no one on base and Gonzalez loads the bases but the a game ending routine fly ball. Matt Wieters and Garrett Atlins had crucial hits for the O’s.
From Guthrie, Eaton, Koji, Hendrickson and Simon to Guthire, Hernandez, Bergesen, Tillman and Matusz in 4 months. Other than Tillman the other 4 rookie pitchers are home-grown. I strongly believe that the “Kiddie Korps”, barring injury, will be very effective for several years. Plus, home-grown Jake Arrieta is still to come and many scouts see him as the best of the lot. With home-grown Matt Wieters behind the plate and home-grown Nolan Reimold patrolling left field, it’s been a bumper crop for the O’s … Read More »
Well it wasn’t pretty or titanic, Matt Wieters first home run was a wind blown opposite field fly that just cleared the wall to give the O’s a 3-1 lead. Later in the 7th with the score tied at 4 Aubrey Huff went deep to give the O’s the W. In Bowie rookie phenom Brian Matusz threw 6 innings of shutout ball.
Last night’s game against Seattle made me sick. MR Personality Eric Bedard pitched an excellent until he got to the 100 pitch count and then gave up. Sound familiar? What happened to the hitting?
Camden Yards was alive like I have never seen it. Yes I am saying it was hopping much more then the 2 free agent playoff years under Davey Johnson. This team is now for real. The pitching is suspect but much less then season’s start. But with the arrival of Matt Wieters, the O’s seemed to lift off the ground. There is a feeling in the air and every one of the 42000 at the game tonight felt it. Luke … Read More »
Let’s tell it like it is, for the first time in recent memory the O’s are hot. Tonight we will probably witness the largest walk-up crowd in years. Why, because the legend finally arrives tonight. Matt Wieters will be in the starting lineup for the Os. Add this to what now seems the outfield for a decade and Oriole fever is back. this season is just starting!!!
Well he is finally here. Matt wieters joins the other “future Orioles” this Friday night at Camden Yards. The lineup is starting to have the look that might bring people back to the yard. Certainly the outfield seems set for 5 years with Markakis, Jones, and Reimhold. The only weak spots left are shortstop and DH. I can’t wait to see Mr Wieters. All the hype has to mean something!!!
