It’s time to put an asterisk next to the 2 Majors Paddy Harrington won last year in Tiger’s absence. Yesyerday , he was paired up with Eldrick and was going along great until he attempted an idiotic flop shot on 16 that bounced his chances into a watery grave. What in the world was he thinking. The PGA is up this week and I will have Pat Coyner on the show Wednesday to make his predictions.
59 year old Tom Watson carded a 5 under par 65 to lead the Open Championship for most of the day but was eventually overtaken by Miquel Jiminez who shot 64. Watson won the tournament in Turnberry in 1977. Tiger missed fairway after fairway in pristine Scottish conditions and shot 71. Pat Coyner was on Terp Talk last night and predicted victory for Lee Westwood while I went with Jim Furyk.

I often wonder why ESPN doesn’t televise the early teeoff times at the British Open. Tiger, Lee Westwood, and a Japanese teen sensation tee off at 4:09 EST. Two incredible birdies on 16 and 17 catapulted Tiger back into the Winners Circle of the Memorial. When Tiger finds the fairways as he did on Sunday he is virtually unstoppable.
