The Yankees will end the World Series tinight. Chase Utley might hit another homer but the Yankees will get to Pedro early , mainly by elevating his pitch count. Pedro is good for only 75-80 pitches and that’s with more rest then he will have had tomorrow night. Arod will end this game early and maybe Tex will finally contribute. Johnny Damon will be MVP.

Another great game in the World Series with Game 2 going to New York.  Another pitching duel with A.J. Burnett defeating “the most influential player that ever stepped into Yankee Stadium.” Series tied, off to I-95 to Philadelphia.

-Player of the Game: A.J. Burnett.  He had a very shaky start, throwing over 60 pitches after three innings, but buckled down with great breaking balls and a high-powered fastball and threw a gem; in seven innings allowed one run and struck … Read More »

Pitching Comparisons

First things first.  I think it will be a big mistake if the Phillies don’t start Pedro Martinez in Game 2.  The reasons.  One Pedro is a big game pitcher who won’t be in awe pitching on the road at Yankee Stadium.  I don’t think it’s a good idea pitching lefties, Lee and Hamels back to back.  It gives the Yankees an advantage seeing pitchers throwing from basically the same angle back to back.  You want to change the eye level of the … Read More »

Yes, I am impressed with the Phillies. The big question is how in the world did the Orioles ever sweep them in a 3 game set earlier in the year. This team reminds me of the Yankees—uh   –mercenaries only with slightly better pitching. I mean very slightly. I like the Yankees in 7 and the Mercenaries should send Adam Jones a share for his sac fly to win the All Star game and thus give the Girardi’s guys the … Read More »

The Yankees will not have an easy time with the Angels–why—Vlad Guerrero.  I still believe if the O’s could have closed the deal when Vladimir was a free agent, we would not be in the mess we find ourselves today. This guy is a pure winner. However, the Mercenaries are just too deep. There is not even close to a soft spot in the lineup. Over the course of a long series most pitching staffs succumb to the might of … Read More »
