After being thoroughly outplayed the first 2 periods, the Washington Capitals got a wake up call and totally dominated the Rangers in the 3rd, capped off by a goal from the ancient Sergei Federov. The Rangers never threatened in the entire period and now they can pack it in for the season. Next up for the Caps: Mr Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penquins.

Stick a fork in Mr Ovechkin and his running mates. What a tremendous letdown. How can this team not be up for the playoffs. Well you can’t blame this one on Goalie Jose Theodore. When the Washington Post nicknames the Caps goalie “Three-or-more”, I believe the beleaguered goalie is doomed for failure. Furthermore when the team fails to defend its netminder against a punk like Sean Avery, the team becomes doomed for defeat. A first round elimination would devastate this franchise. Yet when Theodore needs support, he is forced to dodge arrows for 3 days. Winning the division doesn’t mean much in the NHL.
