The above quote was from an article in the Sunpapers Sunday morning. The wait is over–Sam listened to his father –checked out Pitt and South Florida but wisely chose to bring his talents to College Park. Let there be no doubt, Sam is a tremendous addition to the 2012 recruiting class. he is a dead eye shooter who certainly will be in the point gourd mix.  Just think of the depth in the guard position now for the Terps. When the ink is on the 3 LOIs (Letter of Intent), the near future of Terrapin basketball will be secure!!! Add the remainders of this year’s squad and Maryland should be able to challenge for an ACC Title next year.

according to terrapintimes.com:

Mitch McGary–heavy Duke lean

Amile Jefferson—-NC State, UConn, or Syracuse

Charles Mitchell—postpones decision til spring –probably out as a Terp

This leaves a 3 man 2012 recruiting class—Jake Layman, Seth Allen, and Shaquille Cleare. Combine this class with the returnees and Turgeon will have plenty to work with in 2012-13. Plus you just don’t know who might become available.

Certainly Midnight Madness caps off a special night at College Park Friday night. Let’s list what recruits will attend:

Kam Williams, John Crosby, and Rashard Todd—all from Baltimore will be in the house.

Sam Cassell Jr will be taking his official visit this weekend. I really like Sam’s jumpshot. His bloodlines should run true. Maybe he will be the 4th 2012 commit. Seth Allen, already a 2012 verbal will be at the game.

DC Assault’s Rajay Bullock a 6’7 Junior … Read More »

This proves 1 thing–Seth Allen is a true friend to Justin. Where is Anderson’s future brighter—playing for Mark Turgeon at Maryland or playing in Charlottesville. It is a longshot however!!!

The verbal commitment from Jake Layman has eliminated Maryland from Jerami Grant’s college selection list. My gut feel is Syracuse. This is how it works. Now it seems like the Terps are down to Christian Sanders or Terry Henderson for the guard position and McGary or Jefferson for th forward. In each case either guy would be great. Turgeon will take the first to commit in my opinion. It’s way too dicey to stall any verbal. Either McGary or Jefferson … Read More »

It looks like Coach Turgeon has landed a gem as his first recruit.

“Hoop Booth opened up against the Under Armour sponsored Baltimore Panthers, and this was a nip-and-tuck affair all the way to the end. Two late treys in the last minute of the game by Allen sealed the win for Hoop Booth, 69-64.
Allen finished with 22 points, on 7-15 FGs, 4-8 treys, 4-8 FTs, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 4 TOs.

A left handed Stevie Francis? Wow!!! That a heavy description. But one thing is for sure Coach Turgeon has seen and likes this sleeper. As he is most likely a point guard–it could signify that Maryland has steered away from Sterling Gibbs. Oh yea–Seth is good friends with Justin Anderson. Sounds like a trasfer to Montrose Christian is a possibility.
