One of the most sought after basketball recruits in the area is very close to making his college choice according to DeMatha Head Coach Mike Jones, and it may just be a matter of days before senior forward Jerami Grant decides.

Grant is picking between Rutgers, Syracuse, N.C. State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma still all in the running, while Texas has already been cut from the list.

First reported by Adam Zagoria on Zagsblog.com Jones expects the 6’8″ Grant to decide sometime this week.

Jerami Grant has plenty of experienced guidance to consult with. His father Harvey, and Uncle Horace, both had long NBA careers. Grant also has two brothers that have recently made similar choices, one just finished his playing career at Clemson, and another currently playing for former DeMatha Stag Mike Brey at Notre Dame.

Mike Jones announced via his twitter account, that Jerami and his family met on Tuesday night with Team Takeover Head Coach Keith Stevens, his AAU team, and Jones to discuss the decision.

Grant really emerged as a national star in the latter part of the 2010-11 season, putting together a memorable game against rival Gonzaga in the WCAC finals. His versatility and explosiveness, not to mention bloodlines, predict big things for the DeMatha star.

Grant was expected to attend the Maryland-Miami football game in College Park this weekend. It is unknown whether a decision will be made prior.
