edsall is 20-30 at md….14-12 the last 2 years and has yet to beat RANKED TEAM. ATTENDANCE IS UP, THOUGH I THINK YOu CAN ATTRIBUTE THaT TO 2 THINGS. randy chased away many fans after his first 2 yrs so up was the only way to go…and moving to the big ten helped bring fans into bryd…..grades of playes has improved and let’s give credit to randy for that.
the 3 yr extension works well because in a couple yrs the cole field house football practice facility should be well on it’s way. once there is significant progress there i look for md to re-evaluate edsall and if a change is deemed necessary it would be much easier for the university to find a good coach to come in and take over the program. remember kevin anderson did not include buyouts in edsall’s original contract which is truly hard to believe. (no buyout in turgeon’s contract as well).
the half million dollar buyout makes disposing of edsall, if necessary, much more palatable. i don’t see this extension as a vote to confidence in edsall as much as a chance to keep things in place and maintain stability in the program for the next couple of yrs.
