Appreciate The Tremendous Effort BUT Frustrated, Disappointed As Losses Continue to Mount—Wisconsin 31 Terps 24

This game was ours for the taking. Special teams lapses, 11 penalties, and the inability to convert key opportunities did the Terps in again.

The day got off to a bad start when it was announced that Terrapin guard Deon Wiley was out indefinitely witha torn meniscus problem. Then Terrapin nation was shocked to hear the words “Roll tide” from Trevon Diggs after assuming Stefon’s baby brother was a lock to attend Maryland. Then the homecoming game began.

I certainly was not impressed with the Offense of Wisconsin. Until some key 2nd half adjustments were made, the Badger offense showed me ZERO. At the end of the day their leading rusher was a linebacker who gained 57 yards on a fake punt.

Locksley’s words, and descriptions of his players efforts were impressive but the fan base is just worn out from defeats.

Crushing plays for Maryland:

—the drop of a clear pick six on the 2nd play of the game

—A missed block by Brandon Ross that allowed a horrific sack on Perry Hills. Wes Brown saw most of the action at RB as a result.

—The failure to convert the interception of Jalen Brooks into any points.

—Offsides on one of the best onsides kick executions I have ever seen.

Next up Michigan State who lost to Nebraska on a controversial no call. I am sure Sparty will have lots of sympathy for the plight of the Terps.

with an average qb, not exceptional-just average qb, md would have won the game yesterday and would have beaten penn st.

with an average qb and a decent coach, not a good coach-but just decent, md could won 6 games this yr. md has had some of thee worst qb play i have ever seen this yr. just dreadful. they lead college football in turnovers. and there are something like 127 fbs teams.

11 flags vs md. same problem almost every game this yr. that’s lack of disicipline. that’s poor coaching. in 55 yrs of following md football i can tell you edsall was as bad as bob ward and roy lester, who were horrible. that said with a good coach and just average play by our incoming freshman qb, haskins, md will be ok. anyone who tells you it’s going to take 5 yrs to turn this around doesn’t know much about football. same people would probably say edsall could coach.

you can see a major difference in the attitude and effort by the players. that’s because they like and respect their current coach. though i don’t think locksley is the long term solution for head coach.

by the way if md wasn’t offsides on the on side kick they could not have advanced the ball. they would have had possession on about the 48 with a chance to tie the game.

how can anyone be shocked that diggs is going to alabama? to begin with maryland doesn’t have a head coach for next season and there is no guarantee that locksley will be retained so why would anyone commit to md at this time. earlier commits are sold on coming to maryland, they weren’t coming because of edsall otherwise they would have opened up their recruiting opportunities when the nitwit got fired.

and let’s face it. alabama is part of college football royalty. they play for national championships on a regular basis. they are coached by one of the all time great college coaches, they play before over 100,000 fans at every home game. what kid wouldn’t want to play at bama? you’d be shocked if someone chose md over the crimson tide.

I agree with you about Diggs, Freddy, at least as far as this announcement goes. My immediate thought to the story that he was going to announce on Saturday was, “This isn’t good for Maryland.” because they are not only without a coach for next season, they are without all (or most) of a staff. But then I read the opinions of people who follow the whims of 17 year old boys and girls much more intently than I and kept my own counsel.
However, the one glimmer of hope is that I have “commitments” change and don’t put stock in them until they deliver a signed NLI to the university. It’s unlikely that the younger Diggs will flip but still possible (remember Jalen Tabor).
