Terps Bask in Victory But Injuries Are a Concern

One day after the huge victory over Cal, the Maryland coaching staff nominated 5 players for ACC player of the week. But looming on the horizon are some injuries that hopefully won’t derail the Terps.

Senior defensive end Mack Frost may have injured his surgically repaired knee, an injury not apparent during the game or mentioned afterwards by Friedgen, and he may miss this week’s game.

Also, running back Da’Rel Scott is “questionable” for this week with a possible AC sprain in his shoulder. Friedgen said he will probably be non-contact this week in practice.

Backup senior defensive back Richard Taylor, who had knee surgery a year ago, suffered a likely LCL injury and will have an MRI tomorrow. Friedgen said if he needs surgery he will be out for the season, if not then four weeks.

Also troubling, sophomore receiver LaQuan Williams may have re-injured his foot, one he had surgery on last year, in warmups. Initial tests did not show a break but he will have more tests tomorrow.

Next up for the Terps is Eastern Michigan Saturday at Byrd Stadium at 1PM.
