There is a great article by ESPN’s Seth Wickersham about how Darrius Heyward Bey is adjusting to life in the NFL. As everyone already knows, Oakland’s drafting of DHB was the biggest surprise of this year’s draft. Most analysts projected him to go late in the first round, and now there are a lot of skeptics who are questioning his abilities to perform as a top 10 pick.
However, DHB has remained confident throughout his transition into the NFL and has ignored his critics. This is the best approach for DHB to take. Remember the uproar when Mario Williams was selected over Reggie Bush? Williams had repeatedly said that he ignored his critics and focused on football and has turned into one of the best defensive ends in the NFL today. Keep focusing on football and improving, DHB, and you’ll prove them all wrong on the field.
