Some Thoughts on Maryland Football

From our first offensive series against Cal this team has shown a propensity for mistakes. Here is my question—why so many mistakes. Are the players so overmatched there is an overanxiousness as the play begins? If we have 0 turnovers and just a few penalties against Clemson will we win? Did Chris Turner have such a bad game because he is hearing footsteps from anticipated pressure? Why are our running backs so ineffective after years of standing out? Why does this team seem so injury prone? By the way Saturday was the first really bad game played by #10 for the Terps. Let’s give him a break and see how he bounces back on Saturday.

it seems the team lacks a good deal of talent. wujciak, moten, smith are very good. not sold on campbell. seems like more hype on him than actual production. tyler plays well. boynton looked good last week against mid tn st. you gotta think scott and meggett are better than what they have shown. the o line doesn’t pass protect or run block. turner…well he has never been a real consistent qb throughout his career at maryland and is unlikely ever to be considered as good as shaun hill or scott mcbrien who have been ralph’s best 2 qbs since becoming head coach. the defense played better for most of the game vs. rutgers but is rutgers a good team? probably not this year. and yet the d gave up 2 big runs late in the game. you know ralph complained about the way the 30 seniors from last year didn’t do their job as seniors. this year the team is too young. next year we’ll hear that we don’t have an experienced quarterback. one thing is for sure you don’t have to have a talented team to have a discipline team. experts from the pre-season seem to right so far. not a good team this year. where have you gone gary blackney and charlie taaffe. maryland nation turns its lonely eyes to you. woo woo woo. when you guys left things went downhill. maryland is one game under .500 against d one teams since 2004. great win by the soccer team fri nite.

Though I root like heck for the Terps I don’t see them beating Clemson. Look no matter who they play I always thing they can win but maybe by going this and saying I don’t think they’ll win..well maybe they will win. Here’s what they need to do in order to stop all the penalties. They need to run each play in practice 10 times in a row without mistakes before going on to the next play. Why practice play after play if they can’t do it right? And why does every school in the country recruit in Florida and Maryland doesn’t? They should be getting 2-3 kids every year from Florida and a couple from Texas each year.
