There’s a signpost up ahead-your next stop the Turtle Trap Zone!
Attention Maryland Basketball Fans: Do not….I repeat….DO NOT READ the following:
This Wednesday night Maryland hosts arch-rival Duke in their last home game of the year. It’s Senior Night as the Maryland faithful say thanks and farewell to “The General” Greivis Vasquez, “The Big E” Eric Hayes and “The Warrior” Landon Milbourne. Game time is 9 p.m. and the tilt will be televised to a national audience by ESPN. The Terps hope to avenge a 77-56 loss to the Blue Devils in a game played at Durham on February 13th. STOP! Ya see fans, you were warned, but you still got caught in the ‘’Turtle Trap”. Forget about Duke. Let’s hope the b’ball team is smarter than you. Maryland has a very big game this Saturday at Blacksburg against the Virginia Tech Hokies. By the way, What is a “Hokie”? Isn’t a “Hokie” just a different name for the steak and onions submarine sandwich I used order at Hungry Herman’s? No, that’s a hoagie. Maybe ‘Hokie” was the 3rd baseman on the Pirates 1960 World Championship team. No, that was Don Hoak. Maybe a “Hokie” is some yutz from Oklahoma. No, that’s an “Okie from Muskogee”. Maybe a “Hokie” is something like a “Hoya”, whatever a “Hoya” is. What you really need to know is that the Hokies are last in the ACC in overall field goal percentage, last in 3 pt shooting percentage and last in the league in assists and yet they are 21-6 on the year and 14-0 at home. The Hokies play great defense. This Saturday in “The Castle” over 11,000 very, very loud Virginia Tech fans have an order in for ‘Turtle Soup” as they look for their basketball team to devour the Terrapins. If Maryland can avoid the “turtle trap” and keep their focus on Va. Tech they can respond to the Hokie fans with a simple. NO SOUP FOR YOU!
