I happened to attend the Maryland Delaware Game at Shipley Field Sunday afternoon–for about 15 minutes. It was absolutely freezing and my hands stung when the balls were hit. Freddy was right — it should have been Mittens Day. From the little I saw, starting pitcher Sander Beck was impressive. Beck (0-2, 4.91 ERA) struck out five and allowed just two earned runs in seven innings to take the loss. The sophomore gave up just one hit through four innings, keeping Delaware batters off-kilter with a consistent fastball and a hard-breaking curve.
