Why in the world would the Ravens want to break up their tackle tandem. If there is so much desire to move Oher to the left side then just switch them. Gaither’s size and experience are hard to match. In the games he missed last year, the right side was very weak when Oher moved. I also believe that Jared did play some RT while at Maryland. Getting rid of this Terp will be a decision you will regret.

Look, I love Gaither, but switching from RT to LT and vice versa is not something that everyone can just do. We’re truly lucky that Oher was able to move from RT to LT without missing much of a beat.
My opinion is, the Ravens must’ve seen something with Gaither which convinces them he’s not going to be the best solution going forward. So if we can strike a deal for him while teams have a very good opinion of him, we can use the pick we get back to target a better fit for our RT position.

first off oher is a “left tackle’ and it’s best for the ravens to have him playing there. there’s is no reason why gaither should not be able to play right tackle. i think it’s a matter of his work ethic and his toughness or lack of toughness that disappoints the ravens. maybe this is a wake up call to gaither from the team. but the reality is if someone makes gaither a good deal it’s good for him because it will probably include a large signing bonus and it will be good for the ravens because they will work out a deal that’s good for them. i agree it’s hard to find players with the size and athleticism like gaither but how long does it take for a professional to realize you have to give it your all to be successful in the nfl. and you have to learn how to play hurt. it’s hard to find a really good left tackle but there are plenty of good right tackles available to fit the needs of the ravens. it just may be that gaither isn’t hungry enough to be really successful in the nfl. i hope the ravens keep him and he produces the way he needs to produce but just because he is from maryland isn’t enough for me and i am sure the ravens to keep him. it’s time for gaither to act and play like a true professional. that said if someone actually makes him a great offer the ravens aren’t going to match it and gaither will probably think he can keep playing the way he does now because someone else is willing to pay him big bucks and then it’s doubtful he’ll ever change.
