Executive VP and General Manager Ernie Grunfeld:
I hope you were at the Verizon Center watching the most charismatic athlete to enter the Baltimore Washington scene since #52–that of course is Greivis Vasquez. From the second he walked into the arena the spotlight was on Senor Vasquez tonight. Hundreds of fans just wanted to meet him and if you noticed he obliged everyone of them in a gracious, sincere manner. And I won’t forget to say that yes, the kid can play but you already know that. When the Wizards went down by 7 with 2 minutes left the game was over–quit was everywhere. Greivis never quits–he is a coaches dream. He is a warrior and most of all hundreds of thousands of fans in the area have followed his every footstep since he entered College Park 4 years ago. Ernie, I know the Wiz have their fair share of problems. I am not asking to use your lottery pick but if this kid slips down to your last pick in the first round do the team some good and take Greivis and you will never regret the pick. I assure you that all eyes will be on you to take Greivis when Commissioner Stern says with th 30th pick in the first round the Wizards select_________________________________. If the blank is Greivis Vasquez, I can almost promise you will regain thousands of supporters from Baltimore, Baltimore County, Hereford, Columbia, Ellicott City, etc, people who the franchise lost when Baltimore was deserted and the team moved to Landover.

i don’t think there is any chance of the bullet-zards drafting vasquez and i would doubt if he was drafted by wash that a significant number of fans show up because of greivis. they didn’t show up when juan dixon was drafted. the wiz’s will choose between foye, livingston and probably arenas to play point guard next year. the wizards need front court players and a shooting guard. right now nba draft.net has vasquez going 32 to minn. milbourne 59 to the lakers

Where I enjoy what GV did for the program, I don’t think the Wiz will be in the Market for a PG at any point in this draft.
Arenas and Foye will be there, and the Wiz are 1 of just 4 teams with the ability to sign a top tier player under the CBA this offseason.
If the Wiz were smart, they would probably want to go after D Wade, as has been predicted by so many.
If the Wiz have a shot at either Favors or Cousins in the top 5, which I assume is where they will be, although I haven’t seen anything about the draft lottery yet, they will take them.
You might actually see a better chance of them grabbing Milbourne later on down the road in RD 2.
They need young big men. You get experienced gaurds with good young bigs that play all out, and you might have the biggest win-loss change in history from 1 year to the next. lol.

absolutely no chance of wade coming to washington to play for the wizards. more than likely he’ll re-sign in miami if they can sign a top notch front court player like a chris bosh. if not he’ll go to chicago, his home town, where he would team up with derrick rose, or new york with either the nets or knicks because of the n.y. advertising exposure. i would think washington would not be a preferred destination for any top tier free agent. i would think most top of the line free agents would like to go somewhere where they think they have a legitimate chance of winning a championship.

There is an article on NBA.com right now, and ofcourse it is all conjecture.
Anyway, there are 5 teams that have the ability to sign him. He has said he will not sign an extension with the Heat, and the Heat would need that to happen to afford everything else they have.
He said he will not sign in the West, and he said he doesn’t want to play for the Knicks.
So, that leaves Washington and Chicago.
Yes, there is the hometown thing, however, most of the pundits, and the way the Wizards fan base etc. has been and is and will forever be, think that Washington has so much space, and NEED to win SO BAD that they will destroy any offer Chicago can put out there.
Money always talks in the NBA.
I am actually more confident that the Wiz sign Wade, then any other free agent prediction in local sports history. lol.

bart i’d be shocked if the wiz signed wade. from everything i read here in south florida wade will sign as long as the heat can sign a top tier free agent or trade for stoudemire. i would think that signing a top tier player can’t be that hard for miami to do. the players love coming here, there is no state income tax and you get to play with a great player like wade. and wade is great.
