Phipps, Catalino Named Academic All Americans

University of Maryland men’s lacrosse senior Brian Phipps and junior Grant Catalino were selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America District 2 second team, which was recently announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.  Catalino, a native of Webster, N.Y., with a 3.44 GPA in finance, led the Terps in goals (34) and points (54). He finished his third season as a Terp with the fourth-best point total in his first three seasons since freshman records were first kept in 1970 with 143 points. That total ranks Catalino 21st on the career points list at Maryland, while his 88 career goals ties him for 15th on that all-time list.  Phipps, a native of Annapolis, Md., with a 3.31 GPA in history, finished his career as one of the finest goalies in his Maryland history. In addition to making the CoSIDA team, Phipps was also selected to the 2010 USILA Scholastic All-America team. from umterps.com
