This is strictly speculation!!! One month ago Debbie Yow emphatically denied that Maryland has any interest in leaving the ACC for the Big 10. I accepted it and moved on. But all of a sudden the rumors have returned. Perhaps its all about money. Biggest plus– huge upgrade in football. Biggest minus the loss of ACC hoops. Imagine the Terrapins going to the big house. How exciting would it be to beat the Ohio State University. Soccer unaffected—Men’s lacrosse major effect-most women’s sports– not a tremendous effect. But not having Duke at Maryland for bball is major. I wonder how this would effect the Terrapin club membership. This one could be a tough decision. Put your faith in our AD and let the chips fall.

i was on this from the start. what yow said was political. the big conferences are gong to change fast. the acc will be a “leftover” conference. big ten basketball from top to bottom is as good as if not better than acc. ya think nc st., b.c., wake, miami, va. fl st., clemson are top tier b abll teams. no way. they are average or below average. and big ten football is far superior to acc football. don’t be surprised if schools like va tech, fl st and clemson go to the sec. and they along with miami are the strength of acc football.
a “basketball” only conference won’t make it.

Can’t believe that MD is considering a movement. What the ACC should be doing is recruiting other schols like West Virginia, Pittsburgh and South Carolina (ugh). Build the ACC not escape from it.
