The phenom’s omission from the NL All Star team stands out as another ridiculously mistake by MLB. Withourt him in the game there is virtually no reason to watch the game unless you are a Yankee fan. Charlie Manuel should realize this is the fan’s game. Are you excited about seeing Matt Capps instead.

It is frustrating that Markakis was not chosen, since he is so obviously the best player on the O’s roster, and has 5 straight years of that same consistent output.
Strassburg has made 5 starts. 5. The stars entering the AS game are up in the 18-20 range.
Once some tape gets out, and the scouts get to see what he is doing, things will not go as smoothly, then we will see if he can readjust.
I think he will, and is great. He will make AS games. I just don’t think you let a kid make one after 5 starts.
Matusz went 5 starts, 33 2/3 innings with 41 K’s, and an ERA of 2.49. Should he go? No. because he only got 1 win in the span, and had some other poor starts the rest of the time.
Absolutely ridiculous to even consider Stasburg for the All Star game. The All Star game is for players who have had an outstanding first half of the season. Strasbug is 2-2 in 6 games tossing 36 innings. But of those six games, the first two games were against the Pirates and Indians, two of the worst teams in baseball. He had a no-decision against the White Sox and then lost to the Royals — they also have a losing record — and was shelled by the Braves. He then had a no-decision against the Mets and didn’t have one of his better outings. By the way, the Braves and Mets have winning records. So he has shown he can beat bad teams but has trouble so far with good teams.
