The Boss is Dead—Steinbrenner Passes Away at Age 80
Perhaps one of the most inflential owners in modern day baseball passed away last night suffering a major heart attack. His health had been failing the past few years as evidenced by the releasing of the day to day operations of the team to son Hank. I am sure his buddy Billy Martin is anxiously awaiting his arrival upstairs.
a lot of fans bad mouthed george for years, mostly because of his personality and they way he spent money on the yankees. one thing about the money. baseball has no salary cap and george did nothing wrong signing players to big contracts. he won 7 world championships and took a team that was worth about $10 when be purchased the team to it’s current value of over a billion dollars. pretty pretty good my friend. and of course george became one of the best characters on seinfeld. george belongs in the hall of fame.
