I watched the interview of a Coach I admit to revering on Bryant Gumbel’s Real Sports on HBO and was very disappointed in his lame avoidance of responsibility. What really upsets me is how he ran from the problem and helped destroy the football heritage of a University that idolized him. The penalties would have come and passed, the damage was done, the compliance people are now in force but the guy in charge skipped town unscathed. Listen, Pete Carroll is a great guy–his work with the youth of LA is more then admirable but why oh why run. Please don’t feed us the crap that you were looking for a challenge. The Pete Carroll I know would have stuck this mess out and returned the Trojans to glory.
