‘While in Las Vegas this week TERRAPIN TIMES.COM broke the latest new name on the Terps’ 2011 recruiting radar, ‘4-star’ Texas swingman Antwan Space, an intriguing talent that the Terps followed around ‘Sin City.’ Space, who the Terps had a connection with from assistant Bino Ranson’s days at Xavier, has emerged as another option at the ‘3’ spot along with Dorian Finney-Smith and Maurice Harkless. He is rated in the Top 75-100 nationally, with his stock seemingly on the rise. “I really like them. A really good program through the years, and they are at the top of my list right now as far as where I want to go,” Space said of Maryland after leading Urban DFW to a win on Friday with 20 points with Terps assistant coach Keith Booth looking on.
The Terps got involved with Space more intensely this month, while Gonzaga, Texas A&M, Houston, Penn State, FIU and Colorado, among others, comprise his list. “I like the Maryland coaching staff. From when I talk to them they are really good with me….and it feels like I fit their system.” The 6-7, 200-pounder is a ‘point-forward’ type with guard skills as far as a tremendous handle and the ability to beat guards off the bounce. He can hit the ‘three’ and get his shot most anywhere on the floor, but in the second game we saw in Vegas he settled too often for jumpers instead of attacking the rim with his athleticism and length.”
