I was watching the Golf Channel yesterday and the host just torched Bubba Watson’s decision making on the 18th hole allowing his opponent to win.
Bubba went for the green with his second shot without ever looking at the lie of his opponent. Bubba said he was playing to win—THIS WAS A MATCH PLAY situation. Why gamble if you knew your opponent’s lie was so bad that he had no shot of getting the ball to the green!!! Bubba, I look at my opponent’s lie in a $5 nassau when the match is on the line on 18. You were playing for the PGA Title!!!
Bubba chose to take a drop in a tough lie because it was closer to the hole. However he could have gone back and placed it in the fairway about 160 yards from the hole. His chances to hit it stiff to the pin are much better from the fairway.
Bubba had a case of the Mickelsen follies. Cost him big time!!!

it comes down to bubba has won only once on the pga so that shows he hasn’t figured things out yet that well and combine that with the pressure of a major and you wind up with bad decisions at crucial points in the match.
