Holy George!!!!! Bell Goes Deep Twice–O’s 8 Texas 6
The O’s just keep rolling along. I guess today I deserve a few shots as hopefully Josh Bell is on his way to being a big leaguer. It was a great bounce back win after Ump Jeff Nelson nailed the O’s Friday night. Needless to say Freddy is gloating today.
The only reason to gloat is because…to stick to your guns about SHerril, just makes no sense.
Anytime you are as bad as the O’s have been, there is no point what so ever in keeping a 30+ year old relief pitcher, when someone is willing to give you 2 of their top prospects for him.
The way to compete in the AL East is to get the most prospects as possible, and just pray they turn out to give you 9 better players then the Yanks can buy.
Bell and Johnson gave the O’s 2, for a RP that, even if he continued to pitch very well (and I don’t see where he pitched really that well when here anyway) would have been 35 and a Free Agent before they were ready to compete.
Even if Bell can just be in the range of 260-280 with 20-25 HR power, having financial control over him for 6 seasons, lets the O’s make a big offer to a 1B or SS or SP.
The O’s were not a contender with SHerrill. They CAN be with Bell. Bottom line.
It’s one less position to worry about this offseason.
Yes I am! Bell will be a good 3rd baeman..ofensively and defensively. He’s only had ayr in double a and half yr in triple a. Those who have been critical of him may be baseball fans but really don’t understand the game.
