On Thursday, September 30 University of Maryland Head Men’s Basketball Coach Gary Williams will be honored by Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards and inducted into its newly created Hall of Legends. Coach Williams will join an exclusive club of “Legends” who have been honored by the Museum at its previous annual galas. Entering the Hall of Legends with Coach Williams in this first class of inductees are Babe Ruth, Johnny Unitas, Art Modell, Jim McKay and Brooks Robinson. These six inductees will be permanently featured in a new gallery at Sports Legends Museum that is reserved to honor individuals who have contributed above and beyond at the top echelon of State and national athletics.
The September 30 evening will include tributes to Williams from his former players, coaches and other significant individuals connected him and his career in basketball. Among those confirmed to date include former players Walt Williams and Johnny Rhodes, Coach Williams’ teammate at Maryland, Billy Jones, and former Maryland basketball coach Frank Fellows.
