Georgia Tech Looms As Potential Huge Victory For Maryland

It certainly is pretty clear that Maryland probably needs 10 conference victories to get a ticket to the dance . Therefore every win on the road is a monster.  Tonight at 7:45 the Terps take on Tech on the road where Gt is 3-0 in ACC competition. Included in these 3 victories is a 20 point win over Carolina.

Georgie Tech presents a very tall and powerful starting lineup, one that could cause matchup problems for Maryland. 6-6 Brian Oliver , 6-5 Glen Rice Jr and 6-5 Iman Shumpert comprise the starting frontcourt for GT. Fr 6-11 Dan Miller starts in the post and 6-8 Kammeon Holsey starts at PF. We should note that Jordan definitely had problems with Assane Sene 7-0, on Thursday night. What was important Thursday was the fact that Maryland learned they could win without Jordan Williams scoring 20. Adrian Bowie probably had his best game ever as a Terp. That being said, the Maestro Gary Williams has had a few days to get Jordan to overcome his problems Thursday night.

Tech is 10-9 overall with losses to Northwestern, Syracuse, Siena, Georgia and Charlotte. Thery average 70 points a game, shoot fairly well from the 3 line and average 15 turnovers a game. For maryland to win this game the must

—Not allow Georgia Tech to get off to a fast start. Just stay with them the first 10 minutes.

—Jordan Williams and Sean Mosley must get much deeper in the scoring column. Continue good perimeter shooting. Bowie and Tucker will probably need a combined 30 for the Terps to prevail tonight.
