Terrapin Football Adds 21st Recruit: Justus Pickett

Running back Justus Pickett signed a national letter of intent Monday and will join the Terps in the fall. His signing increases the 2011 class to 21 student-athletes. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Pickett rushed for 2,429 yards and 31 touchdowns last season. That was the third-most yards ever in one season by a Mecklenburg County back and the TD total was ninth. Pickett was the 2010 Southwestern 4A Conference Offensive Player of the Year and made several all-state teams as a senior at Ardrey Kell High School. Rivals.com had Pickett ranked as the 10th-best all-purpose senior back in the nation and the 19th-best player in the state of North Carolina. Scouts, Inc., had him listed as the 26th-ranked running back in the nation. Pickett, who rushed for over 1,400 yards as a junior, also considered Arkansas and West Virginia. from umterps.com
