Turgeon Target 6’11” Prince Ibeh Visits Maryland

The parade of  superstars continues. Most recruiting experts have thought Ibeh would remain in the Texas area. But there he was with Coach Turgeon on campus yesterday. here is his assessment from espn.com:

Strengths:
Ibeh is a long, bouncy post player who dominates the paint. He is a little raw offensively, but is coming along and has shown some good instincts around the basket. He runs the floor like a deer and is good for one or two layups a game by out running his opponent down the floor. He is surprisingly skilled and showed some face-up skills knocking down a couple 10-15 foot jumpers. He is a shot-blocking specialist that understands how to play help defense and changes as many shots as he blocks; he is very difficult to score over in the low block.

Weaknesses:
The young post player is a work in progress offensively. He needs to learn how to assert himself more and demand the ball. As he get older and develops his body his game should take great strides. Often times he plays too straight up and down and is a step late to the ball or gets knocked off of his spot. He needs to get stronger in the lower body, however he has the tools to be a high-major post player.

Bottom Line:
As he continues to improve Ibeh is going to draw a lot of attention because of his bounce and upside. He will be an impact no matter where he goes because of his shot blocking prowess. The State of Texas is loaded again with a talented class. Ibeh may not be a well known name nationally yet, but should see his recruitment heat up as the spring and summer evaluation periods finish up.
